When is the right time to choose finishing touches?

Maria Vainella • 5 December 2018

So you've booked your Wedding for 2019?

The main things have been booked, Venue, Dress, cars. Although these are some of the biggest and more costly things, it's the small finishing touches which really add the personality, colour and fun to your day which are just as important and often overlooked or left to the last minute. We have all been to a Wedding or two in our lives, and it's the small touches that create interest and a talking point for your guests, from the elegant guest book to the quirky table plan and the colourful favours filled with goodies.

As there are so many elements which make up your day it's important to keep colours and themes consistent through every detail to bring everything together with style. Remember that your invitations are the first glimpse your guests get of your special day, and your favours get taken home as a keepsake. Take your time and choose wisely as these should include a colour scheme and theme to your Wedding. Make sure you shop around and find someone who you feel comfortable with and understands your every need to create your individual bespoke invitations and favours to encompass your personalities, style, colours and theme. After all this is YOUR day and it has to be perfect. It's never too early, up to a year in advance is fine. This way you make sure you secure a booking with the person you want and are not putting them under pressure at a very busy time of year.

I have found over the years that favours are often left to the last minute if the budget allows. The danger with this is that you are putting someone under pressure to make them for you and you may not get exactly what you want because time does not allow and end up with something you may not have chosen had you had the time to have a consultation and have something designed for you. Your guests can tell if something has been chosen with time and thought and makes it even more special for them to have as a keepsake. Choose these in advance, take your time and again find the right company who will design and make them exactly how you want, to match with the rest of your day. For example if you are giving one favour per guest, this can mean an order of 100-150 to hand make all in the same high standard, this takes time. As soon as you have found what you are looking for, place your order, pay a deposit and secure your slot with that company. Spring Summer is a very busy season and you wouldn't want to be disappointed.

All of my favours and invitations are handmade and bespoke, taking the time to make one exactly as the other to the same high standard.
If you live in or around the London area, you can book a free consultation to come and have a chat and play around with ideas to make your perfect finishing touches come to life.
